The Prophet’s (peace and blessings be upon him) 'Umrah in Rajab

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question: Is it authentic from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) that he performed an 'Umrah in the month of Rajab?

Answer: The well-known view among the scholars of knowledge is that he did not perform 'Umrah in the month of Rajab, but rather all of his (peace and blessings be upon him) 'Umrahs were in Dhul-Qa'dah. It is established from Ibn 'Umar (may Allah be pleased with him and his father) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) “performed 'Umrah in Rajab,” and Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) mentioned: “He made a mistake in that,” and that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) did not perform 'Umrah in Rajab. The principle in the principles of jurisprudence is that the affirming statement takes precedence over the negating one, so perhaps Aisha and those who held her view did not preserve what Ibn 'Umar preserved. And success is from Allah.
