Ruling on Renting Buildings Within the Boundaries of the Sacred Precinct
Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question: Praise be to Allah, and may peace and blessings be upon the Messenger of Allah.
His Eminence the Shaykh / Abdul Aziz ibn Abdullah ibn Baz, the Grand Mufti of the Kingdom, may Allah preserve him. Peace be upon you and Allah's mercy and blessings, and after that:
I inform you that I have a building within the boundaries of the Sacred Precinct that I am renting out. I have heard that renting out buildings in the Sacred Precinct or in Makkah involves a doubtful matter, and some scholars have said that it is forbidden. Since I spend this money on my family and I want what is lawful, what is your answer? And if it is forbidden, what should I do about the previous rents, most of which I have spent on my family and myself? I ask you to be kind enough to answer? May Allah reward you with good.
Note: I ask that you mention the evidence so that my heart may be at ease.
Answer: And upon you be peace, and Allah's mercy and blessings.
There is no blame on you in that, if Allah wills. May Allah guide everyone. Peace be upon you.
