Is it permissible for a woman to adorn herself for her husband by using cosmetics?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question: Is it permissible for a woman to adorn herself for her husband by using cosmetics that color the cheeks, lips, and eyelids? Please clarify this in light of the fact that these cosmetics are part of the adornment of women in Western society.

Answer: It is prescribed for a woman to adorn herself for her husband with what Allah has prescribed and what He has made permissible. She adorns herself with good clothing in his eyes, and with cleanliness using soap and the like. Soap is something that beautifies her, cleanses her, and removes dirt from her. If there are permissible cosmetics that contain no forbidden substance, no ritual impurity, nothing that harms the face, and nothing that causes severe consequences, then there is nothing wrong with them. We take from the West and the East what benefits us, and we leave what harms us. If something comes from the West or the East that benefits us, we take it and benefit from it, just as we have taken from them weapons, airplanes, cars, ships, and other things. We take from them medicine and non-medicine, and from the forms of adornment, what benefits us, provided it does not involve imitating our enemies among the disbelievers. Rather, we take what is beneficial and leave what is harmful. Adornment is required of her for her husband, not when going out among non-mahram men, but in her home and with her husband. And Allah is the One to help.
