The Ruling on a Woman Using Cosmetics and Dyes for Adornment

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
Is it permissible for a woman to adorn herself for her husband by applying artificial cosmetics and dyes to her face, such as red, green, and other things made by disbelievers and others? And if that is permissible for the husband, is it permissible for her to do so when she is praying, as a form of adornment before entering into the prayer?

Answer:
She may adorn herself for her husband with what Allah has made permissible of clothing, kohl, and the things she applies to her face, such as cosmetics that give her face a glow, but on the condition that they do not cause harm. As for cosmetics and makeup that, as they say, cause harm and result in spots on the face, darkness on the face, and bad effects, it is not permissible. But if it is removed with water, gives a glow, is removed with water, and does not cause harm, then there is nothing wrong with it.
But some specialists tell us, some knowledgeable people tell us, that there may be things in cosmetics that harm the face and give it black spots and defects. So those that bring harm are not permissible to use. But if it is like soap, like senna, or like things that give a glow and remove dirt, but do not have a bad outcome, then there is nothing wrong with it.
