The ruling on greeting with the phrase "Salamun 'alaykum"

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
The words of the angels to Ibrahim (peace be upon him)
they said, "Peace." He said, "Peace,"قَالُوا سَلَامًا قَالَ سَلَامٌ
[Hud: 69]. Is it derived from this that a person should say "salam" with the indefinite article, without the definite article?

Answer:
No, the best is the authentic hadiths, such as what Allah said
And when you are greeted with a greeting, greet [in return] with one better than it or [at least] return itوَإِذَا حُيِّيتُمْ بِتَحِيَّةٍ فَحَيُّوا بِأَحْسَنَ مِنْهَا أَوْ رُدُّوهَا
[An-Nisa: 86]. You say: "As-salamu 'alaykum, wa 'alaykum as-salam," with the definite article. This is the best. And if he says "Salamun 'alaykum," there is no harm.
