The Book of Jihad, Expeditions, and Authority-05a

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The reciter: And Muhammad ibn al-Muthanna narrated it to us, Abu Dawud narrated it to us, Shu'bah narrated it to us with this chain, except that he said:
A bag of fat جِرَابٌ مِنْ شَحْمٍ
, and did not mention
The food الطَّعَامَ
.

The Shaykh : This is how the compiler used it as evidence that food is not considered from the spoils taken illicitly, especially if a person needs it. That is, if there was food in the war spoils that could be eaten, and some of the spoils-takers took it and ate it, that is not considered taking spoils illicitly, especially in case of need. And for this reason, 'Abd Allah ibn al-Mughaffal jumped up when the bag was thrown to him, and he jumped to take it and said:
By Allah, I will not give it to anyone والله لا أعطيه أحداً
, so the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) smiled, and this is his (peace and blessings be upon him) approval of the action of 'Abd Allah ibn al-Mughaffal.
