The reciter: And Muhammad ibn al-Muthanna narrated to us, saying: Abd al-Rahman ibn Mahdi narrated to us. And Muhammad ibn 'Abd Allah ibn Numayr narrated to us, saying: My father narrated to us. Both of them said: Sufyan narrated to us from Abu al-Zubayr from Jabir, who said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
When any one of you is invited to a feast, he should accept it. He may eat if he likes, or he may abandon (eating) if he likes. إذا دعي أحدكم إلى طعام فليجب فإن شاء طعم وإن شاء ترك
