Is there a requirement in the 'aqiqah that is also required in the udhiyah?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The questioner : The sunnah is a sheep, whether large or small...

The Shaykh : Yes, I say it.

The questioner : ... .

The Shaykh : This is a good question, it is important.

The questioner: Yes.

The Shaykh : The truth is that many of the scholars... the time... Ah, Abu Sa'd.

The questioner: Yes.

The Shaykh: All right.

The questioner : It is permissible... our Shaykh.

The Shaykh : Yes, by Allah, if there is no disagreement regarding... it is permissible. I say, in answer to this question, that many of the scholars require in the 'aqiqah the same conditions that are required in the udhiyah, whether in terms of age or in terms of being free from defects, such as blindness, brokenness, or lameness, and the like. But some of the scholars hold a broader view for the people and say that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) did not require in the 'aqiqah what he required in the udhiyah. Therefore, the one who is obligated to slaughter an 'aqiqah should slaughter what is most beneficial for him and his family, and for the neighbors and poor people around him whom he knows. As for whether this 'aqiqah must be free from defects, as is the case with the udhiyah, there is no evidence for this. The Messenger (peace be upon him) stated it generally, as you heard:
For a boy, two sheep, and or a girl, one sheep على الغلام شاتان ، وعن الجارية شاة واحدة
Sunan an-Nasa'i 4218Hasan (Darussalam)
He did not specify a condition here as he did in the udhiyah. Therefore, the 'aqiqah is permissible in the broadest sense. And if a person chooses the best, there is no doubt that it is the best.

The questioner : ... .

The Shaykh: Yes.

The questioner : ... small ones.

The Shaykh : Small ones.

The questioner : The ones whose price is not much.

The Shaykh : That is fine, but this is if it is for a poor person; there is nothing wrong with it. But if he is rich, he should make it large and fat.

The questioner : The rich person in this time says, "I am poor."

The Shaykh: Allah is the Greatest!

The questioner : The rich person says, "I am poor."

The Shaykh : No, this is not permissible. This is disbelief in the blessing of Allah (Mighty and Majestic).
Please, my brother, give the adhan.
In the name of Allah, and Glory is to You, O Allah, and praise. I bear witness that there is no deity but You. I seek Your forgiveness and turn to You in repentance.
