The reciter: Yahya ibn Yahya and Qutaybah ibn Sa'id both narrated to us from Abu 'Awanah. Yahya said: Abu 'Awanah informed us from al-Aswad ibn Qays from Jundub ibn Sufyan, who said:
The finger of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) was wounded in one of those battles, and he said: "Are you not just a finger that has bled? And in the path of Allah is what you have encountered." دَمِيَتْ إِصْبَعُ رَسُولِ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فِي بَعْضِ تِلْكَ الْمَشَاهِدِ، فَقَالَ : هَلْ أَنْتِ إِلَّا إِصْبَعٌ دَمِيتِ، وَفِي سَبِيلِ اللهِ مَا لَقِيتِ
