The reciter: Amr ibn Muhammad al-Naqid narrated to us, and Yazid ibn Harun narrated to us, and Hammad ibn Salama informed us, from Thabit, from Anas ibn Malik, That eighty men from the people of Mecca descended upon the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) from Mount al-Tan'im, armed, seeking to take the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and his companions by surprise, so he took them as captives and spared them, and Allah the Mighty and Majestic revealed: "And it is He who restrained their hands from you and your hands from them within the valley of Mecca, after He had given you victory over them.".
The Shaykh : This means: that he (peace and blessings be upon him) took them as captives and did not kill them.
