The reciter: Muhammad ibn al-Muthanna and Muhammad ibn Bashar narrated to us, saying: Muhammad ibn Ja'far narrated to us, saying: Shu'bah narrated to us, saying: I heard Qatadah narrating from Anas ibn Malik from Usayd ibn Hudhayr,
That a man from the Ansar was alone with the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), and he said: "Will you not appoint me to a position as you appointed so-and-so?" He said: "Indeed, you will encounter favoritism after me, so be patient until you meet me at the Pond."
أَنَّ رَجُلًا مِنَ الْأَنْصَارِ خَلَا بِرَسُولِ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، فَقَالَ : أَلَا تَسْتَعْمِلُنِي كَمَا اسْتَعْمَلْتَ فُلَانًا؟ فَقَالَ : إِنَّكُمْ سَتَلْقَوْنَ بَعْدِي أَثَرَةً فَاصْبِرُوا حَتَّى تَلْقَوْنِي عَلَى الْحَوْضِ
