What is meant by injustice in the saying of Allah, Blessed and Exalted is He: “Those who believed and did not mix their faith with injustice; those will have security, and they will be guided”?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The questioner : Peace be upon you and Allah's mercy.

The Shaykh : And upon you be peace and the mercy of Allah.

The questioner : How are things, O Shaykh?

The Shaykh : Praise be to Allah, I am well.

The questioner : Are you well, if Allah wills?

The Shaykh: May Allah reward you.

The questioner : Today, I mean, we sat with you and asked all our questions, what Allah willed, so there are things still on our minds, there are small issues, I mean!

The Shaykh : For example?

The questioner : For example: in the verse, up to “O Allah, send blessings upon the Prophet.”

The Shaykh :
And remember your Lord when you forget
[Al-Kahf 18:24]
؟

The questioner : Yes:
And remember your Lord when you forget
[Al-Kahf 18:24]
.

The Shaykh : Yes.

The questioner : The one about injustice to the self, the one about injustice to the self, that the Companions, I mean, came to the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) to explain it to them, and he told them to measure the verse by that meaning, and then there was agreement among them, I mean, we did not understand the meaning exactly?

The Shaykh : I did not understand your question.

The questioner : Do you mean you want an explanation regarding the verse?

The Shaykh : Which verse?

The questioner : The verse about... there is no power and no strength except by Allah:
They who believe and do not mix their belief with injustice
[Al-An'am 6:82]
.

The Shaykh :
their faith with injustice إِيمَانَهُمْ بِظُلْمٍ
؟

The questioner : Yes.

The Shaykh :
those will have security, and they are [rightly] guided.
[Al-An'am 6:82]
.

The questioner : Yes.

The Shaykh : What is your question?

The questioner : The question is, I did not understand the meaning exactly, I mean, the meaning of the Companions differed, they differed, and the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) came and explained the verse to them?

The Shaykh : The Companions assumed that the intended meaning of injustice was absolute injustice, so if, for example, a person took the money of his Muslim brother, they said, “And who among us has not committed injustice?!” So he (peace be upon him) replied to them: “The matter is not as you think. Have you not read the saying of Allah (Mighty and Majestic):
And [mention, O Muhammad], when Luqman said to his son while he was instructing him, "O my son, do not associate [anything] with Allah. Indeed, association [with him] is great injustice."
[Luqman 31:13]
?!” So the meaning of the verse:
do not mix their belief with injustice
[Al-An'am 6:82]
: that is, with shirk (associating partners with Allah).

The questioner : Yes.

The Shaykh : This is the intended meaning.

The questioner : The second verse in Surat al-Fatir, which is, I mean, three: they divided the people of Paradise into three: the one who is unjust to himself is: this injustice, and to the self is sins and disobedience?

The Shaykh : It is disobedience; the injustice there is not the same as here!

The questioner : No, I mean, does this injustice enter the Gardens of Eden in the verse that follows, they enter the Gardens of Eden, so does this injustice, I mean, after the Reckoning, do they enter the Gardens of Eden?! Or the agreement of it, I do not understand, because one is moderate and the other is unjust to himself?

The Shaykh : My brother, I answered you.

The questioner : With the first verse, you answered me.

The Shaykh : No, with the second verse I told you: this is the injustice, and it is not injustice in the sense of shirk (associating partners with Allah); the injustice in the verse is absolute injustice, meaning he committed a sin, he was unjust to himself, he was unjust to his brother, this is the intended meaning of the second verse.

The questioner : No, I want to go further than this, I want an explanation that: does the one who is unjust to himself enter the Gardens of Eden after the Reckoning?

The Shaykh: Yes.

The questioner: Huh?

The Shaykh : Of course, after the Reckoning.

The questioner : Okay, then does this injustice include: injustice to the self, injustice to the brothers, injustice to wealth, and so on to the end?

The Shaykh : And what should I say, may Allah guide you.

The questioner : Injustice, injustice has meanings for us, I mean!!

The Shaykh : My brother, I told you, may Allah guide you, do not waste our time.

The questioner : No problem.

The Shaykh : The injustice in the first verse is shirk (associating partners with Allah), and the injustice in the other verse is the injustice mentioned in the authentic hadith:
"My slaves! I have forbidden injustice for Myself and I have made it forbidden among you, so do not wrong one another. يا عبادي ، إنِّي حرَّمْتُ الظُّلمَ على نفسي ، وجَعَلْتُه محرَّمًا بينكم ؛ فلا تظالموا
Al-Adab Al-Mufrad 490
, the injustice in the other verse: it is a person encroaching upon himself or upon another, unlike the first verse.

The questioner : Yes, and the same, I mean, the first injustice in the first verse, which is, so it is shirk (associating partners with Allah), and for them it is a mistake, the second injustice is more specific.

The Shaykh: Yes.

The questioner : It is injustice to the self and injustice to the brothers.

The Shaykh: Yes.

The questioner : This agreement, may Allah reward the Shaykh, if Allah wills.

The Shaykh : And beware of that.

The questioner: Peace be upon you.

The Shaykh : And upon you be peace, and the mercy of Allah and His blessings.
