The Shaykh : Hey, by their fruits you shall know them. This fatwa indicates that he is ignorant and leads people in prayer, and therefore he gets close by holding the mushaf and reading from it, whereas the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) emphasized to the Muslims the care of the Noble Qur'an by reading it, reciting it, memorizing it, studying it, and reviewing it. He said (peace and blessings be upon him):
Read this Qur'an, and sing with it, and review it. By Him in whose hand is the soul of Muhammad, it is more likely to slip from the hearts of men than camels from their ropes. اقرؤوا هذا القرآن ، وتغنَّوا به ، وتعاهدوه ، فوالذي نفس محمد بيده ؛ إنه أشدُّ تفلُّتًا من صدور الرجال من الإبل من عقلها

The questioner : In a narration:
It is لَهُو
Excuse me?

The Shaykh : Yes?

The questioner : In a narration:
It is more لَهُو أشد
?

The Shaykh : How?
It is more likely to slip لَهُو أشدُّ تلُّفتًا
Yes, so if this is the command of the Messenger, then saying that reading from the mushaf is permissible means the opposite of what the Messenger directed his Ummah to.

The questioner : Yes, yes.

The Shaykh : This is all regarding the voluntary prayer, and not all voluntary prayer, but specifically the night prayer in Ramadan, where it is prescribed to increase the reading of the Qur'an and prolong the standing.

The questioner: Yes.

The Shaykh : As for these, what are they reading in the obligatory prayers?!
