The Shaykh : But the stronger view regarding the law of those before us is "that what was legislated for us is what our law has not contradicted". The important point is that belief in the messengers (peace be upon them) entails matters
First, faith that Allah the Exalted did not leave a community without sending a messenger to them.
Second, that the first of the messengers was Noah and the last was Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him).
Third, that the messengers are truthful in what they reported from Allah, and it is obligatory for us to believe them in that, provided the transmission from them is authentic.
Fourth, as for the rulings they established and the righteous deeds they performed, if our legislation affirms them, approves them, and refers to them, we act upon them, such as the standing prayer and fasting of David. If our legislation does not address this, the correct view is that their legislation is legislation for us, provided our legislation does not come with a contrary ruling.
Fifth, we believe in the names of those whose names have been specified for us, and for those whose names have not been specified, we believe in them in general. It is obligatory for us to love them, to honor them as they deserve, and to testify that they are in the highest rank among the ranks of the people of goodness and righteousness, as Allah the Exalted said:[An-Nisa 4:69] And success is from Allah.
