A note on Saudi Arabia’s reliance on foreign disbelieving forces.

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh : When the state sought help from the disbelievers and received clear, evident assistance from them, people—may Allah protect us—some of the common folk, some of the ignorant, began to deify these disbelievers. These people did not realize that these disbelievers are their enemies, whether they help them or not. They are your enemies until the Day of Resurrection; enemies until the Day of Resurrection. It is not permissible for anyone to be loyal to them, to support them, or to make du'a for them. We have heard some of the ignorant common folk say, “We will sacrifice for so-and-so or so-and-so of the disbelievers,” may Allah protect us, and “We will name our children after them.” We ask Allah for safety. If Allah had not subdued them and made them subservient to you, they would have benefited you with nothing. The One who benefits and harms is Allah, and it is He who made them subservient to help you and defend you. It is part of Allah’s (Glorified and Exalted is He) making the disbelievers subservient to the believing servants that He makes disbelievers defend them, as mentioned in the hadith:
Narrated Abu Huraira: We witnessed along with Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) the Khaibar (campaign). Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) told his companions about a man who claimed to be a Muslim, "This man is from the people of the Fire." When the battle started, the man fought very bravely and received a great number of wounds and got crippled. On that, a man from among the companions of the Prophet (ﷺ) came and said, "O Allah's Apostle! Do you know what the man you described as of the people of the Fire has done? He has fought very bravely for Allah's Cause and he has received many wounds." The Prophet (ﷺ) said, "But he is indeed one of the people of the Fire." Some of the Muslims were about to have some doubt about that statement. So while the man was in that state, the pain caused by the wounds troubled him so much that he put his hand into his quiver and took out an arrow and committed suicide with it. Off went some men from among the Muslims to Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) and said, "O Allah's Messenger (ﷺ)! Allah has made your statement true. So-and-so has committed suicide." Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) said, "O Bilal! Get up and announce in public: None will enter Paradise but a believer, and Allah may support this religion (Islam) with a wicked man." إن الله ليؤيد هذا الدين بالرجل الفاجر وبأقوام لا خلاق لهم
Sahih al-Bukhari 6606
But this does not mean that we forget the favor of Allah (Glorified and Exalted is He) who made them subservient, and attribute the favor to them, respect them, and help them. Perhaps they even make du'a for their forgiveness. We have even heard some of the ignorant say, “We will sacrifice for them when the festival of sacrifice comes.” I seek refuge in Allah. Disbelievers! You sacrifice for them? It is not permissible to make du'a for a disbeliever’s mercy.
It is not for the Prophet and those who have believed to ask forgiveness for the polytheists, even if they were relatives, after it has become clear to them that they are companions of Hellfire. ما كان للنبي والذين آمنوا أن يستغفروا للمشركين ولو كانوا أولي قربى من بعد ما تبين لهم أنهم أصحاب الجحيم
[At-Tawbah 9:113]
The point is that it is obligatory for us, when we seek help, to seek help from Allah. And when we seek help from any of the created beings, it is obligatory for us to believe that he is merely a cause that Allah makes subservient for us, and that he is not everything. If Allah had willed, He would have caused them to fail, even if they were stronger than the enemy they were fighting. But Allah (Glorified and Exalted is He) made the repelling of evil through the strength they possessed. All of this is a blessing from Allah upon us. So it is obligatory for us to thank Allah first and last, because it is He who made them subservient and brought them from their lands to defend our land, and to take hold of the oppressor until his oppression is removed. As for deifying them, or believing in our hearts that they are the first and last cause, that is ignorance and misguidance. So we must, O brothers, remove this from the hearts of the common folk. If we hear someone relying on them and saying, “They are the ones who supported us one hundred percent, and they are the first and the last,” it is obligatory for us to explain to them that this is a defect in tawhid (the oneness of Allah). And, if Allah wills, the rest of the discussion on the hadith will follow.
The reciter: The author (may Allah have mercy on him) transmitted: “From Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him and his father), who said: I was behind the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) one day, and he said:
O boy! I will teach you a statement: Be mindful of Allah and He will protect you. Be mindful of Allah and you will find Him before you. When you ask, ask Allah, and when you seek aid, seek Allah's aid. Know that if the entire creation were to gather together to do something to benefit you- you would never get any benefit except that Allah had written for you. And if they were to gather to do something to harm you- you would never be harmed except that Allah had written for you. The pens are lifted and the pages are dried.
Jami` at-Tirmidhi 2516Hasan (Darussalam)
Al-Tirmidhi narrated it and said: It is a good, authentic hadith.
And in a narration other than al-Tirmidhi’s:
Fear Allah, and you will find Him before you. Know Allah in times of ease, and He will know you in times of hardship. Know that what missed you was not destined to hit you, and what hit you was not destined to miss you. Know that victory comes with patience, that relief comes with distress, and that with hardship there is ease.
