Continuing the discussion of the hadith (O My servants, I have forbidden injustice for Myself...)

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh : We previously discussed the beginning of this qudsi hadith, which the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) narrated from his Lord, in which He said, the Exalted:
O My servants, I have forbidden oppression for Myself and have made it forbidden amongst you, so do not oppress one another. يا عبادي إني حرمت الظلم على نفسي وجعلته بينكم محرما فلا تظالموا
Sahih Muslim 2577a
We explained that injustice occurs in wealth, honor, and blood, and we provided many examples of this. We ask Allah, the Exalted, to make it beneficial. Then Allah, the Exalted, said:
O My servants, all of you are astray except for those I have guided, so seek guidance of Me and I shall guide you يا عبادي كلكم ضال إلا من هديته فاستهدوني أهدكم
Sahih Muslim 2577a
All of you are astray. "Astray" here means lost, one who does not know the truth. All of you are astray, meaning one who has chosen the wrong path and does not accept the truth. People who are astray are of two types: the first type is lost and does not know the truth, such as the Christians. The Christians are astray and lost; they did not know the truth until the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was sent. Then they knew the truth, but they were arrogant toward it, so there was no difference between them and the Jews in that they knew the truth but did not follow it. The second type of those who are astray is one who chooses the wrong path over the right path after knowing the right path. These are like the Jews, for the Jews knew the truth but did not accept it; rather, they rejected it. Among this is His saying, Blessed and Exalted is He:
And as for Thamud, We guided them, but they preferred blindness over guidance فأما ثمود فهديناهم فاستحبوا العمى على الهدى
[Fussilat 41:17]
May Allah protect us from that. May Allah guide them and make the truth clear to them and direct them, but they preferred blindness over guidance and the wrong path over the right path. So all people are astray except those whom Allah guides. But what is the guidance of the first type, the one who did not know the truth? The guidance of the first type is that Allah makes the truth clear to him and directs him to it. This guidance is a right upon Allah, a right that Allah has obligated upon Himself. So all creation have been guided by Allah in this sense, meaning the sense of making clear. Allah, the Exalted, said:
Indeed, [incumbent] upon Us is guidance. إن علينا للهدى
[Al-Layl 92:12]
And He said, the Exalted:
The month of Ramadhan [is that] in which was revealed the Qur'an, a guidance for the people شهر رمضان الذي أنزل فيه القرآن هدى للناس
[Al-Baqarah 2:185]
Guidance for people in general. But the second guidance, which is guidance to success in the truth and its acceptance, is that by which Allah singles out whomever He wills of His servants. So now guidance is of two kinds: guidance to making the truth clear, which is general for everyone, and Allah has obligated it upon Himself, making the truth clear to His servants from falsehood; and guidance to success in accepting the truth and acting upon it, believing the news and fulfilling the request. This is specific, and Allah singles out whomever He wills of His servants. People in this matter are divided into categories. The first category is those who have been guided by both guidances, meaning Allah gave them knowledge and success for the truth and its acceptance. The second category is those who have been deprived of both guidances, so they have no knowledge and no worship. The third category is those who have been guided to indication and direction, but they have not been given the guidance of success. This is the worst of the categories, may Allah protect us from it. The important point is that Allah, Mighty and Majestic, says:
All of you are astray كلكم ضال
All of you do not know the truth. All of you do not accept the truth except those whom I have guided. So seek guidance from Me, and I will guide you. This means: ask Me for guidance. If you ask for it, then I will respond to you and guide you to the truth. This is why "seek guidance from Me, and I will guide you" came as a response, like the response to a condition where the conditioned is realized upon the existence of the condition. The proof of this is that the verb is in the jussive mood:
Seek guidance from Me, and I will guide you استهدوني أهدكم
But most of us are turning away from this. Most of us are performing worship, but out of habit and as people do, as if we are not in need of Allah, Glorified and Exalted is He, in seeking guidance. What is fitting for us is to always ask Allah for guidance. And a person says in every prayer: "My Lord, forgive me, have mercy on me, and guide me"
