The Shaykh : In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful:
The discussion has already covered the hadith of Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him), that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) said:
The worst food is the food of the wedding feast, to which those who refuse it are invited, and from which those who come to it are prevented شر الطعام طعام الوليمة، يُدعا إليها من يأباها، ويُمنعها من يأتيها
: and Abu Hurayrah explained that by saying: the rich are invited to it and the poor are prevented from it, and this is the wedding feast, as well as others.
Then he said:
Whoever does not accept an invitation has disobeyed Allah and His Messenger. ومن لم يجب فقد عصى الله ورسوله
Sunan Ibn Majah 1913Sahih (Darussalam)
: and it has been mentioned to us previously the conditions for the obligation of responding to the invitation, and that they are five.
As for this other hadith, it contains the virtue of a person supporting girls, and that is because a girl is minor, weak, and despised, and it is the norm that her people do not care about her or take an interest in her, so the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
Whoever supports two girls until they reach maturity, I and he will be in Paradise like these, and he said with his index and middle fingers مَن عال جاريتين حتى تبلغا كنت أنا وهو في الجنة كهاتين، وقال بأصبعه السبابة والوسطى
: the meaning is that he will be a companion to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) in Paradise, if he supports the two girls: meaning the females, whether daughters or sisters or others, then he will be with the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) in Paradise, and he joined his two fingers, may the prayer and peace be upon him.
Support generally consists of providing for the body’s needs, such as clothing, food, drink, housing, bedding, and the like, but it also consists of nourishing the spirit, nourishing the spirit through education, refinement, guidance, enjoining good and forbidding evil, and the like.
And it is taken from this hadith and what came before it and what came before that: that a person should care about the matters that bring him closer to Allah, not about formalistic matters, or regarding only what benefits in this world, but rather he should observe this and observe what benefits in the Hereafter more and more.
And his saying:
until they reach maturity حتى تبلغا
