Weakening authentic hadiths is an anomaly among the scholars

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
What is our position regarding those who weaken hadiths in Sahih Muslim or Sahih al-Bukhari?

Answer:
This is an anomaly among the scholars and is not relied upon, except for a few matters in the book of Muslim (may Allah have mercy on him) that al-Daraqutni and others pointed out. The position of the people of knowledge is to accept the hadiths of the two Sahihs and use them as evidence, as al-Hafiz Ibn Hajar, al-Hafiz Ibn al-Salah, and others have explicitly stated. If there is weakness in some of the men whose hadiths are included in the two Sahihs, the authors of the two Sahihs selected from their hadiths what is free from defect, such as Isma'il ibn Abi Uways, and 'Umar ibn Hamzah ibn 'Abdullah ibn 'Umar ibn al-Khattab, and a group of others who have weakness in them. However, the authors of the two Sahihs selected from their hadiths what has no defect, because a man may have many hadiths, and there may be an error in some of them, or he may have narrated them after his memory became confused, if he was one of those whose memory became confused. The authors of the two Sahihs were aware of this, so they did not narrate from him except what they knew to be sound.
In summary, what the two Shaykhs narrated was accepted by the Ummah, so one should not listen to anyone's words criticizing them (may Allah have mercy on them), except for what the people of knowledge have clarified, as mentioned above.
And among the things criticized in Muslim (may Allah have mercy on him) is the narration of the hadith of Abu Hurayrah: that Allah created the earth on Saturday... the hadith.
The correct view is that some of its narrators erred in attributing it to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), and that it is actually from the narration of Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) from Ka'b al-Ahbar. This is because the Qur'anic verses and the authentic hadiths all indicate that Allah (Glorified and Exalted is He) created the heavens and the earth and what is between them in six days, the first of which is Sunday and the last of which is Friday. By this, the people of knowledge knew the error of those who narrated from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) that Allah created the earth on Saturday, and the error of Ka'b al-Ahbar, and of anyone who agreed with him in that. Indeed, that is from the false Isra'iliyyat. And success is from Allah.
