The Shaykh’s remarks on Abdullah al-Ghamari regarding his weakening of hadiths and his ruling on some of them as anomalous.

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh : Just yesterday, I finished tracing a hadith. The original of this hadith is established in the two Sahihs. It is the well-known, famous hadith of Aisha:
The prayer was made obligatory as two, two, then it was kept as such in travel and increased in residence. فُرضت الصلاة ركعتين ركعتين فأقرت في السفر وزيدت في الحظر
This Shaykh, Abdullah al-Ghamari, this wicked man, is the first person to declare in writing that this hadith is anomalous and weak. I wish he had stuck to the method of the hadith scholars, saying that so-and-so deviated from the majority. The whole matter is that this hadith contradicts the Qur'an and contradicts the established hadiths of the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him).

The questioner : Oh my, O Shaykh...

The Shaykh : He collected. He collected five hadiths. In the hadith of Jibril (peace be upon him) praying with the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) as imam in Makkah, this hadith is narrated in the two Sahihs in brief, that he (peace and blessings be upon him) led them in the five prayers, from the hadith of Abu Mas'ud al-Badri. It is also narrated in Sunan Abu Dawud with a good chain in detail, detailing the prayers... with him as imam. Then hadiths followed in this manner, mentioning Jibril's (peace be upon him) prayer with the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) without specifying the number of rak'ahs for Dhuhr, Asr, and Isha. What did this man al-Ghamari do? He gathered hadiths from here and there, explicitly stating that Jibril (peace be upon him) in that incident prayed Dhuhr, Asr, and Isha as four, four, meaning in Makkah.

The questioner : Even Maghrib?

The Shaykh : No, no, I say Dhuhr, Asr, and Isha. He brings five hadiths, all of which explicitly state that Jibril prayed these three prayers as four, four. Then he strikes the hadith of al-Bukhari from Aisha with these hadiths. There it says the prayer was made obligatory as two, two, and he establishes by it that it was made obligatory as four, four.

The questioner : And... in al-Bukhari.

The Shaykh : Yes.

The questioner : Contradictory.
Another questioner: Contradictory to the hadith of al-Bukhari.

The Shaykh : When I first read these hadiths, by Allah, I was surprised by them, because in my mind, this is the well-known hadith in Sahih al-Bukhari and others. How is this four and four? This is what motivated and pushed me to trace the routes of these five hadiths. He is a very wicked, scheming, and deceptive man toward readers, bit by bit... I have not seen anyone greater than him except the Shi'ah, and especially among them this... Lebanese Abdullah al-Husayn.
The first hadith, he brought number one, he starts writing it in French because of the letterhead there. He brought it from Musnad Ishaq ibn Rahawayh, saying "with a chain meeting the conditions of the two Shaykhs." I do not say "authentic" for him, even though he means it. He does not say "an authentic chain meeting the conditions of the two Shaykhs."

The questioner : With a chain.

The Shaykh : With a chain meeting the conditions of the two Shaykhs.

The questioner : So he has this?

The Shaykh : Yes, but there is no difference between saying "authentic meeting the conditions of the two Shaykhs" or "meeting the conditions of the two Shaykhs." The wicked one, as part of his scheme, says "with a chain meeting the conditions of the two Shaykhs" from Abu Bakr ibn Muhammad ibn Amr ibn Hazm from Abu Mas'ud al-Ansari al-Badri. Abu Mas'ud is a well-known Companion, and it mentions Jibril's (peace be upon him) leading the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) and making the three prayers four. I wondered where they got it from? Ishaq ibn Rahawayh's Musnad is lost. Now, since it has become easy in many universities to obtain copies of some manuscripts, I have a piece of this Musnad, but I do not think he transmitted it directly. Then I confirmed that when I found the hadith—no, thank you—when I found the hadith, he had transmitted it word for word from "Nasb al-Raayah li-Ahadith al-Hidayah" by al-Hafiz al-Zayla'i, because the hadith is in "Al-Matalib al-'Aliyah" in the additions to the ten Musnads by al-Hafiz Ibn Hajar al-Asqalani. It differs slightly in some letters that do not change the meaning between its wording in "Nasb al-Raayah" and its wording in "Al-Matalib al-'Aliyah". So it was my strong opinion that he took it from al-Zayla'i. But al-Zayla'i transmitted from al-Hafiz al-Bayhaqi that this chain is broken between Abu Bakr and Abu Mas'ud. And indeed, in the authentic hadith in al-Bukhari, and I say now, Muslim also agreed on narrating the hadith through the route of this Abu Bakr from al-Bashir ibn Abu Mas'ud al-Ansari from his father, with that brief wording in which it says he led him in five prayers.

The questioner : Without detail.

The Shaykh : Without detail.

The questioner : ... four, four.

The Shaykh : While this one narrated the detail and is broken between Abu Bakr and Abu Mas'ud. Despite that, he deceived the readers and said "with a chain meeting the conditions of the two Shaykhs". He is a wicked man, truthful in the sense that he does not say what he means. The chain meets the conditions of the two Shaykhs up to Abu Bakr, but he does not care to clarify the truth that there is a break. Deception of the readers.

The questioner : ... .

The Shaykh : I traced the five hadiths and refuted him in about twenty-two pages, just to establish the hadith of the Lady Aisha. The five hadiths followed him.

The questioner : ... .

The Shaykh : No, the fourth is the authentic one, the fourth... for the brothers.

The questioner : No, I do not mean the weak one.

The Shaykh : No, may Allah reward you, this is one of the five authentic ones, because the hadith of the Lady Aisha is authentic. And in the course of tracing this hadith, yes, this man made me aware of his deception.

The questioner : So...

The Shaykh : In volume five, it is not more than that, because it is the number, yes, the number is two thousand eight hundred and fourteen.

The questioner : It means the third, that is.

The Shaykh : The point, Professor, is that the five hadiths are actually four, but as part of his scheme, he made them five. What did he do? Number three is from so-and-so from al-Hasan al-Basri. Number five is through another person from al-Hasan al-Basri. Number three and number five are from al-Hasan al-Basri as mursal. This is considered one hadith.

The questioner : ... he made them two.

The Shaykh : I mean, if Abu Hurayrah has routes to Abu Hurayrah, it is one hadith. So it is part of his deception of the people. Number one, two, three, four, five, all these hadiths explicitly state that he prayed four, four. So I traced these hadiths, and by the grace of Allah, I did not find in them a hadith worthy of being declared authentic. Rather, they are either mursal, and among the mursalat of al-Hasan al-Basri, about which al-Hafiz al-Iraqi says they are like the wind: "The mursalat of al-Hasan al-Basri are like the wind, they have no value". And the others have clear, exposed defects. Then I presented the four hadiths for verification after explaining their weakness with seven authentic hadiths, all of which do not mention making the prayers four. All of them do not mention making the prayers four. So these hadiths that he made four are denounced hadiths because they added to the text compared to the authentic hadiths, including the hadith of the two Sahihs from Abu Mas'ud al-Badri that he prayed five prayers without specifying the number of rak'ahs, and the hadith of Abu Dawud which detailed that he prayed Maghrib and prayed Fajr and prayed... without numbers, also without numbers.
The point is that this wicked man takes these weak hadiths as a basis and weakens a hadith agreed upon by al-Bukhari and Muslim.

The questioner : I seek refuge in Allah.

The Shaykh : One of the most wicked things possible, and among his wonders.
