The reader: In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
Praise be to Allah, Lord of the worlds, and may peace and blessings be upon our Prophet Muhammad, and upon his family and all his Companions:
He said (may Allah have mercy on him): "Chapter on the Virtue of Wudu:
From Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him), who said: I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) say:
On the Day of Resurrection, my followers will be called "Al-Ghurr-ul- Muhajjalun" from the trace of ablution
Sahih al-Bukhari 136
, so whoever among you can lengthen his whiteness, let him do so. Agreed upon.
And from him (may Allah be pleased with him), he said: I heard my beloved (peace and blessings be upon him) say:
In a believer adornment would reach the places where ablution reaches.
Sahih Muslim 250
Narrated by Muslim.
And from Uthman ibn Affan (may Allah be pleased with him), he said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
He who performed ablution well, his sins would come out from his body, even coming out from under his nails.
Sahih Muslim 245
Narrated by Muslim"
.

The Shaykh : In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful:
These hadiths were mentioned by al-Nawawi (may Allah have mercy on him) in *Riyad al-Salihin* in the chapter on the virtue of wudu:
The hadith of Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him), who said: I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) say:
My people would come with bright faces and bright hands and feet on account of the marks of ablution, so he who can increase the lustre of his forehead (and that of his hands and legs) should do so.
Sahih Muslim 246b
: This means that this Ummah, the Ummah of Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him and his family), will be called on the Day of Resurrection with white faces and white limbs: the whiteness (ghurrah) is the whiteness of the face, and the whiteness of the limbs (muhajjil) is the whiteness of the extremities, the extremities of the hands and the extremities of the feet. This means that these places will be a light that shines on the Day of Resurrection for this Ummah, and this is specific to us, praise be to Allah, as the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
a mark that is not for anyone other than you
: This means a sign by which the Ummah of Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) will be distinguished on that witnessed day.
And this is evidence of the virtue of wudu, that the limbs of wudu on the Day of Resurrection will come white, shining with light. He says:
so he who can increase the lustre of his forehead (and that of his hands and legs) should do so.
Sahih Muslim 246b
: And this phrase is not from the speech of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him and his family), but rather it is from the speech of Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him), and it is not correct from the perspective of the Shari'ah ruling, because its apparent meaning is that a person can lengthen his whiteness: meaning he lengthens his face, and this is not possible. The face is defined from ear to ear and from the curve of the forehead to the bottom of the beard; it cannot be lengthened. This indicates that this phrase was said by Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) based on his independent reasoning (ijtihad), as Ibn al-Qayyim indicated in *al-Nuniyyah*, where he said:
"And Abu Hurayrah said this from his own intellect *** So the people of knowledge will distinguish it tomorrow
And lengthening the whiteness is not possible *** And this is clear in its explanation"
.
But in any case, what Allah has obligated upon us is to wash the faces, the hands to the elbows, and the feet to the ankles; this is the limit of wudu. And it is sufficient as a source of pride that people will come on the Day of Resurrection with these places shining with light from their bodies due to the effect of wudu. In this is evidence of the virtue of wudu, and of the establishment of the Resurrection, and that the nations on the Day of Resurrection will come, each nation being called to its book: Did it practice its book or did it not practice it?
As for the second hadith: the hadith of Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) said:
In a believer adornment would reach the places where ablution reaches.
Sahih Muslim 250
: The adornment on the Day of Resurrection is with which men and women are adorned; men and women will wear adornment of gold, silver, and pearls:
And they will be adorned with bracelets of silver
[Al-Insan 76:21]
,
They will be adorned therein with bracelets of gold and pearl
[Al-Hajj 22:23]
: So they are adorned with these three types; the man and the woman in Paradise will wear adornment of these three types: gold, silver, and pearls. And it must be arranged in a way that achieves beauty more and more, because adorning with each type of these undoubtedly gives a person beauty. So if some of it is arranged with the rest and ordered in a good way, it gives more beauty. On the Day of Resurrection, the adornment of the believer reaches wherever the wudu reaches.
