The reader: In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
Praise be to Allah, Lord of the worlds, and may prayers and peace be upon our Prophet Muhammad, and upon his family and all his Companions:
He said -may Allah have mercy on him-: "Chapter on the dislike of a follower beginning a voluntary prayer after the mu'adhdhin has begun the iqamah:
Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) reported, from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), who said:
When the Iqamah has been called for the Salat then there is no Salat except the obligatory.
Jami` at-Tirmidhi 421Sahih (Darussalam)
Muslim narrated it.
Chapter on the dislike of singling out Friday for fasting or its night for prayer:
Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) reported, from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), who said:
Do not choose the Friday night among all other nights for standing in (Tahajjud) prayer, and do not choose Friday among all other days for Saum (fasting) except that one you have accustomed to.
Riyad as-Salihin 1760
Muslim narrated it.
And from him (may Allah be pleased with him), who said: I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) say:
None of you should fast on Friday, unless he fasts together with the day before or the day after.
Bulugh al-Maram 5:41
Agreed upon by al-Bukhari and Muslim.
And from Muhammad ibn 'Abbad, who said:
I asked Jabir (May Allah be pleased with him). Did the Prophet (ﷺ) prohibit fasting on Friday?" He said, "Yes." سألت جابراً رضي الله عنه : أنهى النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم عن صوم الجمعة ؟ قال: نعم
Riyad as-Salihin 1762
Agreed upon by al-Bukhari and Muslim.
And from the Mother of the Believers Juwayriyyah bint al-Harith (may Allah be pleased with her):
the Prophet (ﷺ) visited her on a Friday and she was observing fast. He asked, "Did you observe fast yesterday?" She said, "No." He asked, "Do you intend to observe fast tomorrow?" She said, "No." He said, "In that case, give up your fast today."
Riyad as-Salihin 1763
Al-Bukhari narrated it "

The Shaykh : In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful:
The author said -may Allah have mercy on him-: "Chapter on the dislike of a follower beginning a voluntary prayer after the obligatory prayer is established":
This means that when the prayer is established, it is not prescribed for the follower to begin a voluntary prayer, whether that voluntary prayer is the greeting of the mosque, a purely voluntary prayer, or the regular voluntary prayer attached to that prayer. For example, if you arrive for the Fajr prayer and the iqamah is called, it is not permissible for you to pray the Sunnah of Fajr, because the prayer has been established. The evidence for this is the hadith of Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) said:
When the Iqamah has been called for the Salat then there is no Salat except the obligatory.
Jami` at-Tirmidhi 421Sahih (Darussalam)
, so his statement:
So there is no prayer
is general and includes any prayer, even if a person has a missed obligatory prayer that he forgot and did not remember until the prayer was established, he does not pray it, but he enters with the imam with the intention of that missed obligatory prayer, and he does not separate from the people. For example, if the iqamah is called for the 'Asr prayer, and you enter the mosque and you have not prayed Zuhr, you do not pray Zuhr, because the prayer has been established for 'Asr, but enter with them with the intention of Zuhr, and then when you finish your prayer, pray 'Asr. But if the iqamah is called and you have already begun a voluntary prayer, do you complete it or leave it? The scholars have two opinions on this:
The first opinion is that if the prayer is established and you have begun a voluntary prayer, you cut it off and do not complete it absolutely.
The second opinion is to complete it, even if you miss a rak'ah or two rak'ahs, or the entire prayer except for the amount of the takbir of ihram before the taslim.
And the correct view is that we say: if the prayer is established and you are in a voluntary prayer, if you are in the first rak'ah, cut it off, and if you are in the second rak'ah, complete it briefly. This is the correct view in which the evidences can be reconciled.
