Is there anything required of me in this, knowing that I read a hadith in *Minhaj al-Muslim* regarding currency exchange in which the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said:

The questioner : May Allah preserve you. This questioner, Tahir Hasan, says: I am a resident of the Kingdom and I have children in my home country, which prompts me to send them expenses either through a bank or through a person who deals in transferring or exchanging currencies. This is done via telephone, and there was no physical exchange with the party to whom the transfer is made. Is there anything required of me in this, knowing that I read a hadith in *Minhaj al-Muslim* regarding currency exchange in which the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
Sell gold for silver as you wish, hand to hand بيعوا الذهب بالفضة كيف شئتم يداً بيد
Jami` at-Tirmidhi 1240Sahih (Darussalam)
, and one of the conditions for the permissibility of currency exchange is the physical exchange in the meeting place, and that is difficult for me. So is there anything required of me?

The Shaykh : The answer is that you may transfer the money in the currency of the country where you are. When it reaches the recipient, he may exchange it, if he wishes, at the rate of that day in that country.
An example of this is: you transfer money through the bank as Saudi riyals. When it reaches the bank in your country and the recipient comes to collect it, and he wants to convert it to the currency of his country, he should ask what the rate is.
Then he exchanges it with the bank to which you transferred it at the rate at that time and takes possession of it. This is a method with which there is no problem and which involves no burden. So he should adhere to it, for it is permissible.
As for transferring and exchanging it into the currency of the country of the recipient without taking possession, this is not permissible.
