Q: A question from: Fahd. A. A. - from Riyadh, he says: I argued with my brother over a matter in a state of anger, and I said to him: "Get away from me, O disbeliever," on the basis that he did not pray except on occasions, such as attending relatives' gatherings and the like. What is the ruling in that? And is it true that he is so?
A: It is authentically established from the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) that he said:Sahih Muslim 82b Narrated by Muslim. And Imam Ahmad and the people of the Sunan reported with a good chain from Buraydah ibn al-Husayb (may Allah be pleased with him) from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) that he said: Sunan Ibn Majah 1079Sahih (Darussalam) And the hadiths indicating this meaning are numerous.
But you should, in such a case, not rush to address him with such a phrase, but rather advise him first, and inform him that abandoning prayer is disbelief and misguidance, and that it is obligatory for him to repent to Allah (Glorified and Exalted is He); perhaps he will benefit from you and accept the advice.
We ask Allah for everyone to be granted success in sincere repentance from all sins.
