He angered his father, and he said to him: O disbeliever

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Fatwa number ( 13594 )
Q: What is the ruling if a person angered his father and said to him: "O disbeliever"? Does the word of disbelief apply to the father?
A: It is not permissible for a father, if his son angers him, to say to him: O disbeliever, and he must repent and seek forgiveness if that occurs. It is established from Ibn 'Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) that he said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
When a person calls his brother (in Islam) a disbeliever, one of them will certainly deserve the title. If the addressee is so as he has asserted, the disbelief of the man is confirmed, but if it is untrue, then it will revert to him.إذا قال الرجل لأخيه: يا كافر فقد باء بها أحدهما، فإن كان كما قال، وإلا رجعت عليه

. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
