The Correct Creed Regarding the Names and Attributes of Allah
Machine translationRead the Arabic original
His Eminence the Grand Mufti of the Kingdom, Shaykh 'Abd al-'Aziz ibn 'Abd Allah ibn Baz (may Allah preserve him and grant him scrupulousness), peace be upon you and Allah's mercy and blessings, and after that:
What is your creed by which you profess your faith in Allah regarding His names and attributes, and specifically regarding affirming the attribute of elevation for our Lord (Blessed and Exalted is He) — briefly? May Allah bless you and your knowledge?
Presented by your son: A. S. B.
And upon you be peace and the mercy of Allah and His blessings, and after that:
The creed by which I profess my faith in Allah, and by which I ask Him, Glorified and Exalted is He, to let me die, is: belief that He, Glorified and Exalted is He, is the true God who is worthy of worship, and that He, Glorified and Exalted is He, is above the Throne, having risen above it in a manner befitting His majesty and greatness, without asking how. And that He, Glorified and Exalted is He, is described as being above all creation, as He, Glorified and Exalted is He, said: [Taha: 5]. And the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: : [Al-A'raf: 54]. And he (peace and blessings be upon him) said in the last verse of the Throne Verse: : [Al-Baqarah: 255]. And he (peace and blessings be upon him) said: : [Ghafir: 12]. And He, Glorified and Exalted is He, said: [Fatir: 10]. And there are many verses in this meaning.
And I believe that He, Glorified and Exalted is He, has the most beautiful names and the highest attributes, as the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: : [Al-A'raf: 180].
The obligatory duty for all Muslims is to believe in His names and attributes mentioned in the Noble Qur'an and the authentic Sunnah, and to affirm them for Him, Glorified and Exalted is He, in a manner befitting His majesty, without distortion, denial, asking how, or likening Him to creation, as He, Glorified and Exalted is He, said: [Al-Shura: 11]. And the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: : [An-Nahl: 74]. And He, Glorified and Exalted is He, said: [Al-Ikhlas 112:1] Allah is the Self-Sufficient. He neither begets nor is begotten. And there is none comparable to Him. [Al-Ikhlas: 1 - 4]. These are matters of religious law that are not permissible to affirm for Allah except by an explicit text from the Qur'an or the authentic Sunnah; for He, Glorified and Exalted is He, knows Himself best and knows best what befits Him, and His Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) is the one who knows Him best and is the one who conveys His message, and he does not speak from desire, as Allah, Glorified and Exalted is He, said: [An-Najm 53:1] Your companion has not gone astray, nor has he erred. Nor does he speak from desire. It is not but a revelation that is revealed. [An-Najm: 1 - 4].
And I believe that the Qur'an is His speech and is not a created thing, and this is the statement of the people of the Sunnah and the community, from the Companions of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and those who came after them. And I believe in everything that Allah and His Messenger informed us of regarding the matter of Paradise and the Fire, the Reckoning and the recompense, and other things that have been and will be, as indicated by the Noble Qur'an or brought by the authentic Sunnah from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him).
And Allah is the One to be asked to keep us and you firm upon His religion, and to protect us and the rest of the Muslims from the misleading trials and the stings of Satan, and to support His religion and elevate His word, and to rectify the conditions of all Muslims, and to grant them understanding in the religion, and to unite their word upon the truth, and to guide their rulers and rectify their leaders. Indeed, He is the One capable of that and able to do it.
And peace be upon you and the mercy of Allah and His blessings.

The Most Merciful [who is] above the Throne established.
Indeed, your Lord is Allah, who created the heavens and earth in six days and then established Himself above the Throne
إِنَّ رَبَّكُمُ اللَّهُ الَّذِي خَلَقَ السَّمَاوَاتِ وَالْأَرْضَ فِي سِتَّةِ أَيَّامٍ ثُمَّ اسْتَوَى عَلَى الْعَرْشِand their preservation tires Him not. And He is the Most High, the Most Great.
So the judgement is with Allah, the Most High, the Grand."
To Him ascends good speech, and righteous work raises it
And I believe that He, Glorified and Exalted is He, has the most beautiful names and the highest attributes, as the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: :

There is nothing like unto Him, and He is the Hearing, the Seeing.
So do not assert similarities to Allah. Indeed, Allah knows and you do not know.
Say, "He is Allah, [who is] One,
By the star when it descends,
