He spoke about the principle of affiliation and its types, and whether affiliation is valid if someone claims it

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh : And the principle of affiliation, as I told you at the beginning of my talk, is that it is looked at; if the affiliation is correct, it is accepted, otherwise it is not.
So every Muslim and non-Muslim must have some kind of affiliation, whether by lineage, by profession, by country, and so on.
So there are those who say so-and-so is the Shami, so-and-so is the Egyptian, so-and-so is the Indian, and so on, and no one objects to these affiliations because they correspond to reality. Therefore, the Qur'an mentions the Muhajireen and the Ansar; this one is a Muhajir and this one is an Ansari, and that is not objectionable at all by the consensus of the scholars of the Muslims. But when is it objected to? When the one who affiliates himself to the Muhajireen takes this affiliation as a pre-Islamic tribalism, or the one who affiliates himself to the Ansar also takes this affiliation as a pre-Islamic tribalism, as almost happened in the time of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him). When one of them heard someone saying
O Ansar! And another says, O Muhajireen! يا للأنصار وآخر يقول يا للمهاجرين
war almost broke out... As for affiliation, it is a reality, and this affiliation is correct; no one among the people objects to it at all.
So if the Muslim adopts the creed of the righteous Salaf and the school of the righteous Salaf, affiliates himself to them, and acts according to what he has affiliated himself to from their school, then there is nothing wrong with that, as we have presented in the explanation and detail.
