Explanation of the words of Ibn Malik (may Allah have mercy on him): "With the taa of fa'altu and atat, and the yaa of if'ali *** and the noon of aqbalna, the verb becomes clear."

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh : Then the author (may Allah have mercy on him) moved on to explaining the markers of the verb, saying:
"With the taa of fa'altu and atat".
The student: With the taa of fa'alta.

The Shaykh :"With the taa of fa'alta and atat, and the yaa of if'ali *** and the noon of aqbalna, the verb becomes clear"
He mentioned four markers. With the taa of fa'alta, the verb becomes clear, meaning it is distinguished. That is to say, any word to which the taa of the doer is attached is a verb. Good. And with the taa of fa'altu, ah, it becomes good. And with the taa of fa'altuma, ah, likewise. And with the taa of fa'altunna, every time. The taa of the doer is one of the markers of the verb.
"And atat". The taa of atat is the taa of femininity. So the taa of femininity is one of the markers of the verb. Any word to which the taa of femininity is attached is a verb, not a noun or a particle. And "yaa if'ali" is the yaa of addressing a female. If'ali addresses a woman, commanding her to do. Good. And "yaa idribi," ah, "yaa idribi," and "yaa kuli"
So eat and drink and be contented. فكلي واشربي وقري عينا
[Maryam 19:26]
are like it. So the yaa of addressing a female is one of the markers of the verb.
The fourth: "And the noon of aqbalna" "And the noon of aqbalna". The noon of aqbalna is the noon of emphasis. So any word that accepts the noon of emphasis, or contains the noon of emphasis, is a verb. The author here (may Allah have mercy on him) mixed the markers of the verbs with each other and did not separate them, but he will separate them. So the markers of the verbs are the four that Ibn Malik mentioned: the taa of the doer, which he expressed by saying: "With the taa of fa'altu"; the static taa of femininity, which he expressed by saying: "And atat"; the yaa of addressing a female, which he expressed by saying: "And the yaa of if'ali"; and the noon of emphasis, which he expressed by saying: "And the noon of aqbalna". Four markers.
