What are the types of hadiths in al-Bukhari's Sahih, and what is the degree of authenticity of each section?

The questioner : It seems that the answer to part of the second question has been given: What are the types of hadiths in al-Bukhari's Sahih, and what is the degree of authenticity of each section?

The Shaykh : Yes, the answer has already been given. All the isnad hadiths in al-Bukhari are authentic, and it does not harm us to say that this is a general rule, because it is inevitable that there are some errors and mistakes by some narrators. This is to verify the reported saying of Imam al-Shafi'i: "Allah refused to complete anything other than His Book." So, all the isnad hadiths in al-Bukhari—meaning those whose chain he traces back to the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him)—are authentic, except for a few things, and very few, perhaps countable on the fingers of one hand. As for the second section of hadiths, which are the mu'allaq hadiths, and these are those whose chain he does not trace back to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), or to a Companion, or to a Successor, they are like the sections in other books of the Sunnah: they contain authentic, good, and weak hadiths. Therefore, it is a grave error to say, and even to write a treatise in some Islamic countries in response to some reckless people, a treatise titled: "Everything in Sahih al-Bukhari is authentic." This is stubbornness, this is ignorance, this is a statement that comes from a person who has not studied al-Bukhari at all. If he had said, for example: "Everything in Sahih al-Bukhari that is isnad is authentic," it would have been close to the truth. But this generalization, and in "Sahih al-Bukhari" there are more than a thousand mu'allaq hadiths, and in this mu'allaq section there are dozens of weak hadiths, so it is not permissible Islamically to say: "Everything in Sahih al-Bukhari is authentic," because this is, first: an error that contradicts reality, and second: it is a comparison with the Noble Qur'an, for the Noble Qur'an is the only one

, whereas a book compiled by Zayd of the people, no matter how learned he is, no matter how careful he is about authenticity and correctness, no matter what, etc., his foot must slip, and the pen must overcome him, and that is the Sunnah of Allah in His creation
