Dividing religion into good and bad religious innovations

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
Is there such a thing as a good religious innovation and a bad religious innovation, as we hear?

Answer:
There is no such thing as a good religious innovation; all religious innovations are misguidance. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
Avoid novelties, for every novelty is an innovation, and every innovation is an error.وإياكم ومحدثات الأمور؛ فإن كل محدثة بدعة، وكل بدعة ضلالة
Sunan Abi Dawud 4607Sahih (Al-Albani)
Therefore, dividing them into good and bad religious innovations is an error. Calling them good and bad religious innovations is an error and is not permissible. Rather, all religious innovations are misguidance. Religious innovations are those that contradict the Shari'ah; any act of worship that contradicts the Shari'ah is a religious innovation.
'Umar's statement, "What a good religious innovation," means from the linguistic perspective. He called tarawih a religious innovation linguistically because it occurred after the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). Otherwise, it is a recommended practice (sunnah) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) performed and that his Companions performed. All newly invented acts of worship are religious innovations
And every religious innovation (bid'ah) is misguidanceوكل بدعة ضلالة
