The Necessity of the Possessor of Knowledge Sharing What He Has with Others

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
A message was sent by one of the brothers from Yemen, or rather one of the sisters, saying: (A. M.) Our sister says: If a person knows some matters, is it obligatory for him to teach them to others? May Allah reward you with good.

Answer:
Allah the Exalted says:
cooperate in righteousness and pietyوَتَعَاوَنُوا عَلَى الْبِرِّ وَالتَّقْوَى
[Al-Ma'idah: 2] And He says—(Exalted and Majestic is He):
The believing men and believing women are allies of one another. They enjoin what is right and forbid what is wrongوَالْمُؤْمِنُونَ وَالْمُؤْمِنَاتُ بَعْضُهُمْ أَوْلِيَاءُ بَعْضٍ يَأْمُرُونَ بِالْمَعْرُوفِ وَيَنْهَوْنَ عَنِ الْمُنكَرِ
[At-Tawbah: 71] So it is obligatory for everyone who has knowledge to teach his companions, his brothers, and his family, and to be sincere with them, to advise them to do good, to enjoin what is right, and to forbid what is wrong according to his knowledge and his ability:
So fear Allah as much as you are ableفَاتَّقُوا اللَّهَ مَا اسْتَطَعْتُمْ
[Al-Taghabun: 16] He advises his family, his brothers, his children, and his neighbors according to the well-known knowledge he possesses; because knowledge is of two kinds:
Well-known, general knowledge, such as: knowing the prayer, dutifulness to parents, paying the obligatory alms, fasting Ramadan, the prohibition of intoxicants, and the prohibition of unlawful sexual intercourse. These are well-known matters.
So it is obligatory for a person to advise whoever he sees being negligent in prayer, or suspected of unlawful sexual intercourse, or drinking intoxicants, or other such things. He advises those around him: relatives, neighbors, and companions. He should fear Allah in this, and advise, enjoining and forbidding.
Because these are known matters in which there is no doubt. As for one who does not have knowledge, no, he should learn first. The other matters that may be obscure, yes.

The presenter : May Allah reward you with good, and may He do you good.
