What is the limit of what is known from the religion by necessity?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The questioner : May Allah reward you, O Shaykh. We want to know the limit of what is known from the religion by necessity.

The Shaykh : What is known from the religion by necessity is that which no Muslim can be ignorant of, such as the obligation of prayer, for example, and the prohibition of intoxicants and unlawful sexual intercourse, and the like. This is part of what is known by necessity from the religion: that intoxicants are forbidden, that the five daily prayers are obligatory, that unlawful sexual intercourse is forbidden, that killing the soul is forbidden, and the like. As for a matter that is not known by necessity except after research and consideration, that is not part of what is known from the religion by necessity.
