What is the ruling on the necessity of taking a bank loan due to financial hardship, given that I work for a company whose task is to carry out construction projects, specifically building structures?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The questioner : I work for a company.

The Shaykh : How?

The questioner : I work for a company whose task is to carry out construction, meaning the construction of buildings. However, sometimes, due to financial hardship, one may be compelled to borrow from a bank. Is there any sin on him for this work?

The Shaykh : It depends.

The questioner : My job is as an accountant.

The Shaykh : You have now revealed the cause. You said you are an accountant. If you had concealed it...

The questioner : We need to be clear about the situation.

The Shaykh : And indeed, you will undoubtedly record interest-based accounts, because transactions today require it. The previous discussion returns in full: the means that lead to what Allah has forbidden are not justified by the end... this livelihood and the like, especially regarding interest, for which there is explicit text in the explanation of His saying, the Exalted:
And cooperate in righteousness and piety, but do not cooperate in sin and aggression.
[Al-Ma'idah 5:2]
. He said, peace and blessings be upon him:
Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) cursed the accepter of interest and its payer, and one who records it, and the two witnesses
Sahih Muslim 1598
. So whoever writes interest should not boast that he does not eat interest or feed interest, because he spreads interest by writing it. Therefore, I hope that all my brothers, the students, will always keep this verse before their eyes:
but do not cooperate in sin and aggression
[Al-Ma'idah 5:2]
. This is a very great principle in Islam, and it conflicts with the systems currently in place in the lands of the world, even in Muslim lands, unfortunately, for they justify and legitimize every forbidden cause as long as it achieves an end for them, even if that end is purely material
but do not cooperate in sin and aggression
[Al-Ma'idah 5:2]
. Therefore, I see, and I fear that our conversation will be like it was with our brother there, because you said, "I am now going to be compelled." I am saying, I advise you to leave writing in this field. There is no objection to being a worker in another way in contracting, but not absolutely, because before I heard from you that you are an accountant, I was going to tell you that this work has no problem in it, as far as I can see, on the condition that you do not build what you mostly suspect is also used in disobedience to Allah, Mighty and Majestic. Let us give a very clear example: if there is an engineer who plans a building for a dance hall, for example, or a cinema, and contractors who do not think with this Islamic thinking come and compete with each other to contract for the construction of that building, then everyone who cooperates with this contractor, whether a large or small employee, has his share of sin. But if the building is an ordinary building, like a house, for example, and not a hotel, because hotels today are rife with sin, the truth is that in this time, a Muslim rarely finds pure, lawful money. But that does not mean it is permissible for him to pursue every path without asking about what is lawful and what is forbidden from it. And he said, peace and blessings be upon him, on this occasion:
O people, fear Allah and be excellent in your seeking. Indeed, no soul will die until it has completed its provision and its term. So be excellent in your seeking, for what is with Allah is not attained through the forbidden.
,
For what is with Allah is not attained through the forbidden.
. This is a declarative sentence intended as a command; it is a statement like His saying, the Exalted:
Hajj is [during] well-known months, so whoever has made Hajj obligatory upon himself therein [by entering the state of ihram], there is [to be for him] no sexual relations and no disobedience and no disputing during Hajj.
[Al-Baqarah 2:197]
, meaning: do not commit lewdness, do not commit sin, do not argue during the Hajj. Similarly here, what is with Allah is not attained through the forbidden. In reality, it is attained; the banks do their work, but the intended meaning of the prohibitive "no" here is the prohibitive "no," meaning do not pursue forbidden livelihood, because this is not permissible for a Muslim. And especially, as we mentioned in previous speech, the Muslim believes that his livelihood is apportioned, but it must be noted that it is apportioned with the condition of the cause. If you engage in the lawful cause, you are happy; and if you engage in the unlawful cause, you are wretched, may Allah protect us.
Other than that?
