The ruling on verbalizing the intention before beginning the prayer

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
A message from one of the listening brothers. His brother Hasan Abdullah Salem, a Yemeni, asks: Is it permissible for a person when standing for prayer to mention the time and the number of rak'ahs, or is it sufficient to just say the takbir?

Answer:
The takbir is sufficient, and praise be to Allah. As for saying, "I intend such and such," this is a religious innovation (bid'ah) with no basis. Saying, "I intend to pray such and such rak'ahs at such and such a time," has no basis. It is not from the practice of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), nor from the practice of the Companions (may Allah be pleased with them all). Rather, it is one of the innovations introduced by some people. It is sufficient for the believer to have the intention in his heart that he is standing for the Zuhr prayer, the 'Asr prayer, the Maghrib prayer, the 'Isha' prayer, the Duha prayer, the prayer of istikharah, or the eclipse prayer. The intention alone is sufficient, and praise be to Allah.
The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
The reward of deeds depends upon the intentions and every person will get the reward according to what he has intended.إنما الأعمال بالنيات، وإنما لكل امرئ ما نوى
Sahih al-Bukhari 1
The place of the intention is the heart. And he said (peace and blessings be upon him):
He who did any act for which there is no sanction from our behalf, that is to be rejected.من عمل عملًا ليس عليه أمرنا فهو رد
Sahih Muslim 1718b
Meaning: it is rejected. It is not from the practice of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) nor from his Sunnah to verbalize the intention, saying, "I intend to pray such and such," or "I intend to perform wudu," or "I intend to perform tawaf." This has no basis. Yes.

The presenter : May Allah reward you with good.
