Ruling on selling gold for gold with the buyer paying the difference

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
After this, a message was sent by one of the female listeners from Riyadh. She says: The sender (W. A. M.), our sister, has a number of issues:
In one of them, she says: My father bought me a set of gold in this way. He sold my old gold and bought new gold with it, adding a sum of money to it. Is this considered riba? If so, what is obligatory for me? Should I sell it and give its price in charity, or should I sell it, give charity, and take the price, then buy new gold with it? May Allah reward you with good.

Answer:
This transaction is undoubtedly riba. If you knew that, return the gold to its owner and take your gold and your dirhams, and the sale is invalid. But if you did not know, the matter is broad—may Allah will it—because of ignorance. The matter is broad, and praise be to Allah, and there is no blame in that. And the servant should be upright in the future and beware of this riba that occurred from your father due to his ignorance. Yes.

The presenter : May Allah bless you.
