The ruling on leaving out the loud recitation of the ameen in prayer

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
Is it permissible to leave out the loud recitation of the ameen in prayer, and not to raise the hands?

Answer:
Yes, if he is among people who do not raise their hands and do not recite the ameen loudly, then it is better that he not do so in order to unite their hearts, so that he may call them to good, and so that he may teach them and guide them, and so that he may be able to bring about reform among them. For whenever he differs from them, they will find it objectionable; because they consider this to be the religion. They consider not raising the hands, except for the takbir of entering prayer, to be the religion, and they have lived with their scholars upon this. Likewise, not reciting the ameen loudly is a well-known disagreement among the scholars of knowledge, some of whom said that one should recite it loudly, and some of whom said: one does not recite the ameen loudly. It has come in the hadith that he (peace and blessings be upon him) raised his voice, and in some narrations that he lowered his voice. And although the correct view is that it is recommended to recite the ameen loudly, and it is a recommended act, leaving it is a matter of leaving a recommended act.
Therefore, a believer should not perform a recommended act that leads to division, disagreement, and fitnah (trial, discord or temptation); rather, the believer should leave off the recommended act, and the one calling to Allah , if greater benefits result from leaving it off. For example, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) left the demolition of the Ka'bah and its rebuilding on the foundations of Ibrahim, saying: "Because the Quraysh are recent in their disbelief." For this reason, he left it as it was, and he (peace and blessings be upon him) did not change it for the sake of the general public benefit.
