The ruling on one who steps forward to deliver the sermon and lead the prayer on Friday due to the absence of the imam

This message is submitted by 'Abd Allah ibn Hamud Fahayd al-Qahatani from al-'Ud. He says: His Eminence Shaykh 'Abd al-'Aziz ibn 'Abd Allah ibn Baz, after greetings and respect, I request your fatwa on my question: I ask that I lead the congregation in the Friday prayer, such that I step forward to pray with them and deliver the sermon, as there are no imams present among the people mentioned in this question, who are residents of the village. And I, His Eminence, do not desire a salary for this; rather, I ask: Is there a sin upon me for stepping forward to pray with them, given that they presented me to deliver the sermon and pray with them? May Allah preserve you, and may Allah reward you with the best reward?
Answer: There is no blame in this; you are doing a good deed. If a person steps forward with his brothers, and his brothers present him to pray with them because their imam is not present, or because their imam has passed away or resigned and no imam and khatib has been sent to them, and they present one of them to pray with them, there is no blame in that, provided he is qualified for the imamah and qualified for the khutbah. There is nothing wrong with it, and he is to be thanked and rewarded. It is not a condition for this that he be given a salary or appointed by the government; rather, the salary is for assistance and is not a condition. The government provides salaries to imams and khatibs to assist and support them in this great matter and this noble project. If some of the congregation count on Allah and pray with their congregation on Friday or at the prescribed times seeking what is with Allah the Mighty and Majestic, he has his reward with Allah the Exalted and Sublime, and there is no blame on him. Yes.
The presenter: I believe that the questioner, 'Abd Allah al-Qahatani from al-'Ud, when he asked this question, believed that there must be an order issued from the Hajj and 'Umrah authority?
The Shaykh: No, it is not a condition, it is not a condition, it is not a condition. This is regarding employment, meaning the one who is entitled to a salary; that is from the authorities. As for a person volunteering to pray with a congregation whose imam and khatib did not attend, whether at a specific time or at multiple times, there is no blame in that. Yes.
