The question: And may the Shaykh be respected! We begin with a letter from Abdullah ibn Husayn al-Husayn from Hawtat Banu Tamim, in the lower part of al-Batin, in which he says:
To the esteemed and precious Shaykh, Abdul Aziz ibn Baz (may Allah preserve him and grant him piety), greetings and then:
I submit this question to you, hoping you will graciously answer it. He says: (Q) I married a woman named Hasa, and she brought a daughter named Nura. Then Hasa’s husband died, and she married another man, from whom she had a daughter named Hind. Nura married and also had a daughter. Nura breastfed her mother’s daughter, who is Hind. Then Nura’s husband died, and she married another man. Is it permissible for Hind to uncover herself before her mother’s husband by breastfeeding and her maternal sister, knowing that Hind breastfed from the milk of Nura’s first husband? And thank you?
The answer: That is, she became her daughter. This Hind, who is Nura’s sister, if Nura breastfed her with a complete breastfeeding, which is five breastfeedings or more within the two-year period, then Hind becomes Nura’s daughter, the daughter of her elder sister. And Nura’s new husband becomes forbidden to Hind because he is her mother’s husband by breastfeeding. So this Nura married a final husband; with respect to Hind, who is her sister, he is her mother’s husband by breastfeeding, so he is forbidden to her. Because the mother’s husband by blood or by breastfeeding is forbidden to the daughter. And according to the question, Hind became the daughter of her elder sister Nura by breastfeeding. And Nura’s husband, in that case, is Hind’s mother’s husband, whether it is her first husband or her second husband. The point is: she became the daughter of her sister Nura. So all of Nura’s husbands become forbidden to her; her current husband or the one who comes after him. Nura’s husbands are Hind’s mother’s husbands, so Hind is forbidden to them, and they are forbidden to her because of the breastfeeding. But on the condition that the breastfeeding is five breastfeedings or more, meaning: Nura breastfed her five times or more than five times while Hind was within the two-year period. If this condition is met, then Nura’s husbands become forbidden to her sister Hind by virtue of the breastfeeding. Yes.
