Is the qunut in the Fajr prayer valid?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
He is asking about the qunut in the Fajr prayer: is it valid, or not?

Answer:
The correct view is that it is not prescribed in the Fajr prayer, and that it is performed for calamities. When a calamity befalls the Muslims, one performs the qunut after the Fajr, after the bowing in the last unit of the Fajr prayer. For example: supplicating against the disbelievers in Afghanistan, supplicating against the disbelievers in Palestine, against the disbelievers in the Philippines; because they... oppressed the Muslims, killed the Muslims, and the like of that. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) used to perform the qunut in the Fajr, and in other prayers when calamities occurred, when there was harm from the disbelievers to the Muslims, or fighting against the Muslims. He would supplicate against them after the bowing, supplicating against them and saying: "O Allah, fight the disbelievers and polytheists, O Allah, shake them, O Allah, grant us victory over them," and the like of that.
As for what some people do of performing the qunut constantly in the Fajr, this is... not recommended. Rather, what should be done is to leave it. It is established in the Sunan from Sa'd ibn Tariq al-Ashja'i (may Allah be pleased with him) that he said to his father: "O my father! You prayed behind the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), and behind Abu Bakr, and behind 'Umar, and behind 'Uthman, and behind 'Ali (may Allah be pleased with them). Did they perform the qunut in the Fajr?" He said: "O my son, you are a latecomer."
This indicates that it is a late innovation, and that the Sunnah is to leave it. Although some scholars, some people of knowledge, went to the position of performing it, and they cited weak hadiths as evidence for it. The correct view is that it is not done, and that the Sunnah is to leave it. This is the correct view, this is the Sunnah, and this is the stronger position among the statements of the scholars. Yes.
