Ruling on sleeping in a state of major ritual impurity without performing ablution or the full ritual bath

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
Your Eminence! This questioner says: What is the ruling for one who sleeps while in a state of major ritual impurity without performing ablution?

Answer:
It is disliked. The recommended practice is to perform ablution; the minimum is to perform ablution. The recommended practice is to perform ablution and then sleep
When the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) came to his wives, he would wash his private parts, perform ablution, and then sleep.كان النبي ﷺ إذا أتى أهله؛ يغسل فرجه، ويتوضأ، ثم ينام
(peace and blessings be upon him). He might also perform the full ritual bath before that. If he performs the full ritual bath, that is more complete. If he sleeps and performs the full ritual bath at the end of the night, there is no harm, as the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) did. As for sleeping without ablution and without the full ritual bath, this is disliked. 'Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) asked the Prophet about that, and he said:
Perform wudu' and then sleepتوضأ ثم نم
He said: “How can one of us sleep while in a state of major ritual impurity?” He said:
If he performs ablution, let him sleep.إذا توضأ فليرقد
And in another wording:
Perform ablution and then lie down.توضأ ثم ارقد
.
The point is: It is prescribed for the believer, when he has finished relieving himself, to perform ablution, wash his private parts, and perform the ablution for prayer, and then sleep. If he performs the full ritual bath, that is more complete. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) did both: sometimes he performed the full ritual bath before sleeping, and sometimes he performed ablution and slept, then performed the full ritual bath at the end of the night, (peace and blessings be upon him).

The presenter : May Allah reward you with good, Your Eminence the Shaykh.
