The Obligation of Guarding the Tongue from Its Slips

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
In the last of her questions, she says: How can a person control his tongue from speaking? And is speaking about bad people who hurt us with their words, actions, and deeds considered backbiting? Please inform us about this.

Answer:
It is obligatory for the believer to strive to guard his tongue from what Allah has forbidden, such as backbiting, talebearing, obscenity, cursing, and the like, as well as lying and the like. He should strive to guard his time by obeying Allah, remembering Allah, reading the Qur'an, and the like, or by remaining silent so that he does not fall into destruction and sins. He should strive to guard his limbs, the most important of which is the tongue, from everything that angers Allah. He should strive to occupy them with obedience to Allah, with what Allah has made obligatory, and with what Allah has prescribed, such as prayer, recitation, and remembrance, and other things that benefit him. He should beware of occupying his tongue with what harms him, such as backbiting, talebearing, or cursing anyone, or anything else that Allah has forbidden.
So he should fear Allah and strive against his self in this matter, so that he may be upright upon the truth, and so that he may leave what Allah has forbidden with clear knowledge. He should ask his Lord for success and assistance. And Allah (Exalted and Majestic is He) is the One who grants success and assistance. He is the One who said in His Book:
Call upon Me; I will respond to you.ادْعُونِي أَسْتَجِبْ لَكُمْ
[Surah Ghafir: 60]
So the believer asks his Lord, seeks His help, and turns to Him with his heart and his body, asking Him to help him with good, and to help him guard his limbs from what Allah has forbidden, and to help him use them in obedience to Allah .

The presenter : May Allah reward you with good.
