The ruling on one who bows while his imam has not yet finished reciting al-Fatihah

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
Our brother says: If the imam bows while I am reciting al-Fatihah and I have not yet finished it, should I bow with him, or should I complete al-Fatihah? And when is al-Fatihah dropped from the ma'mum in prayer?

Answer:
If only a little remains, such as one or two verses, he should complete it. And if you fear that he will rise, then bow, and what remains is dropped from you, just as if you came and the imam had already bowed; you bow and al-Fatihah is dropped from you. If the ma'mum comes and the imam is bowing, he bows with him, and it suffices for him; the rak'ah sufficed for him, as in Sahih al-Bukhari from the hadith of Abu Bakrah (may Allah be pleased with him)
That he came and the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was bowing; so he bowed behind the row, then entered the row. When the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) finished the salam, he said to him: May Allah increase your eagerness, and do not do it again.أنه جاء والنبي ﷺ راكع؛ فركع دون الصف، ثم دخل في الصف، فلما سلم النبي ﷺ قال له: زادك الله حرصًا، ولا تعد
and he did not order him to make up the rak'ah.
And this is the opinion of all four imams, that whoever catches the imam bowing, the rak'ah suffices for him and al-Fatihah is dropped from him. So likewise, if he recites the beginning of it, then fears missing the rak'ah, he bows, and that does not harm him. And likewise, if the ma'mum forgets it, or is ignorant of it, it is dropped from him, and his prayer with the imam suffices.
Unlike the one praying alone or the imam, for whom it does not suffice if he forgets it or is ignorant of it; he must recite it, because it is a pillar of his prayer. As for the ma'mum, it is obligatory for him with remembrance and with knowledge, by the evidence that he (peace and blessings be upon him) did not order Abu Bakrah al-Thaqafi to repeat it when he came and the imam was bowing. Yes.
