The ruling on one who enters the mosque while the imam has already begun the prayer

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
A message from one of the listening brothers, saying: Your brother in Allah (T. 'A. 'A. D.) our brother asks: Is it permissible for a Muslim to pray the voluntary prayer of 'Asr, or the voluntary prayer of Fajr, if he arrives at the mosque and the imam has already entered into the prayer, and he did not catch the voluntary prayer before the obligatory prayer?

Answer:
If he arrives at the mosque and the imam is in prayer, he joins the imam. No one is to pray while the imam is praying. Rather, whenever he arrives, it is obligatory for him to join the imam, and the voluntary prayer is dropped, whether it is a regular voluntary prayer like the one for Zuhr, or a non-regular one like the one for 'Asr. Whenever the follower arrives and the imam has begun the prayer and the iqamah has been called, he joins him; based on the saying of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him):
When the Iqamah has been called for the Salat then there is no Salat except the obligatory.إذا أقيمت الصلاة؛ فلا صلاة إلا المكتوبة
Jami` at-Tirmidhi 421Sahih (Darussalam)
.
So it is obligatory for the believer, whenever he reaches the mosque, to pray with the imam, whenever he finds him in prayer, or whenever the prayer has been called for. Yes.
