Ruling on selling goods on installment with an increased price

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
The questioner asks: What is the ruling on selling goods on installment with an increase in the price over the original cash price?

Answer:
There is nothing wrong with selling it on installment, and increasing the price is permissible; because a deferred sale is not a cash sale. So if a car is worth fifty thousand in cash, and he sells it for sixty thousand or seventy thousand, with such and such amount each year, or such and such amount each month; there is no harm in that. It falls under His saying (Exalted and Majestic is He):
O you who have believed, when you contract a debt for a specified term, write it down.يَا أَيُّهَا الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا إِذَا تَدَايَنتُمْ بِدَيْنٍ إِلَى أَجَلٍ مُسَمًّى فَاكْتُبُوهُ
[al-Baqarah:282] There is nothing wrong with it. This is a deferred sale, a sale of debt, and there is no harm in it.
It is established that he (peace and blessings be upon him) approved of the people of Barirah when they sold her for nine awqiyah, one awqiyah each year. They sold her herself for nine awqiyah, over nine years, one awqiyah each year; forty dirhams. And this is a type of installment. Yes.

The presenter: May Allah reward you with good, O Shaykh.
