Ruling on burying more than one person in a single grave

Question:
His second question says: O Shaykh, is it permissible to bury more than one body in a single grave? Please inform us of this.
Answer:
If the need arises due to a large number of deaths, there is no harm in burying two or three people in a single grave. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) buried two and three people in a single grave on the day of Uhud because of the large number of casualties and the difficulty of placing each person in a separate grave. So if a disaster occurs and the number of deaths is high, there is no objection to burying two or three people in a single grave. The best person is placed closest to the qiblah, the best and then the next best, placed toward the qiblah, as the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) did on the day of Uhud; he would place the best of them closest to the qiblah. Whoever recited the most Qur'an, he would place him in the niche. Yes.
