Question:
What is the ruling on smoking? And if this person, the one who smokes, steps forward and leads people in prayer as an imam in a mosque, is it permissible for him to be the imam of any of the mosques?

Answer:
Smoking is not permissible; rather, it is forbidden because of the great harms it causes to the body, health, wealth, and religion. It is an evil, and its harms are numerous regarding religion, worldly life, health, and wealth. Therefore, it is obligatory for every Muslim to guard against it, and to stay away from smoking it and from sitting with its practitioners. Yes.
