Ruling on returning the greeting to a presenter on television or radio

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
One of the listening brothers sent a message. He is Ali Sa'd Muhammad from Sudan. Our brother says: When the presenter on the radio, or on television, for example, gives the greeting at the beginning of the program, is it obligatory for me to return the greeting?

Answer:
You should return the greeting; because he greeted the listeners and you are among them, so you say: "And upon you be peace, and the mercy of Allah and His blessings." As for its being obligatory, that is a matter of consideration; because it is a collective obligation, but it is prescribed for you to return the greeting; because others may not return it, so you return the greeting, and you receive the reward. If you say: "And upon you be peace, and the mercy of Allah and His blessings," Allah will record for you thirty good deeds. So return the greeting, and do not say: "Someone else will return it." You should take the initiative in returning the greeting, and this is what is prescribed for you, and it may become obligatory upon you. Yes.

The presenter: May Allah reward you with good.
