Advice on caring for the Qur'an and the Islamic sciences

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
The questioner says: My husband does not care about learning the Islamic sciences, and he has no time for reading. What should I do with him? He does maintain the prayers at their times and does what we need, and we thank him for that, but we want what is good for him.
Whoever Allah wills good for, He grants him understanding in the religion
Musannaf Ibn Abi Shaybah 22:227
So what do you advise us? May Allah reward you with good.

Answer:
We advise him to strive to read the Qur'an and to reflect on the verses of Allah so that he may benefit, as Allah (Exalted and Majestic is He) said:
[This is] a blessed Book which We have revealed to you, [O Muhammad], that they might reflect upon its verses and that those of understanding would be reminded.
[Surat Sad: 29] And He the Exalted said:
Then do they not reflect upon the Qur'an, or are there locks upon [their] hearts?
[Surat Muhammad: 24] And He the Exalted said:
Indeed, this Qur'an guides to that which is most suitable and gives good tidings to the believers who do righteous deeds that they will have a great reward.
[Surat al-Isra: 9] And He the Exalted said:
Say, "It is, for those who believe, a guidance and cure."
[Surat Fussilat: 44] And He the Exalted said:
And this [Qur'an] is a Book We have revealed [which is] blessed, so follow it and fear Allah that you may receive mercy.
[Surat al-An'am: 155].
So I advise him, and I advise you as well, to increase your advice to him with gentleness. He should care for the Qur'an and increase its recitation with reflection at appropriate times. He should attend gatherings of knowledge and circles of knowledge with the people of knowledge, the scholars known for goodness. He should read beneficial books so that he may benefit from them, such as *Bulugh al-Maram* by al-Hafiz Ibn Hajar, such as *Umdat al-Hadith* by al-Hafiz 'Abd al-Ghani ibn Sirr al-Maqdisi, such as *Riyad al-Salihin* by al-Hafiz al-Nawawi. He should benefit from these books, such as *al-Targhib wa al-Tarhib* by al-Mundhiri. He should benefit from these books; books of hadith.
And in this way he reads books of creed, such as *Kitab al-Tawhid* by the Shaykh Muhammad ibn 'Abd al-Wahhab, *Fath al-Majid* which is its commentary by the Shaykh 'Abd al-Rahman ibn Hasan, such as *al-'Aqidah al-Wasitiyyah* by the Shaykh al-Islam Ibn Taymiyyah. He reads these books so that he may benefit. He strives to set aside time at night, or during the day, for these books and for the Noble Qur'an.
And you, I advise you to cooperate with him with kind words and a good manner. You advise him and point him toward what is good. You bring the books he wants if he is busy, and in this way you help him with every good. If he has a good father, or a brother if he is older than him, or an uncle, you tell him so that perhaps he may advise him and point him toward what benefits him. And you do the same, but with a good manner. Do not neglect the constant reminder, kind words, good counsel, and the good phrase and good manner. May Allah reward you with good. Yes.

The presenter: May Allah reward you with good, O Shaykh.
