The Ruling on Voluntary Prayer During the Prohibited Times

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
In his final questions, this questioner asks: What is the ruling on voluntary prayer during the prohibited times?

Answer:
Voluntary prayer is not permissible during the prohibited times unless there is a reason for it, such as the eclipse prayer if the sun eclipses after the afternoon prayer, or the greeting of the mosque if one enters the mosque after the afternoon prayer to sit and wait for the sunset prayer, in which case he prays the greeting of the mosque; based on his saying (peace and blessings be upon him):
If anyone of you enters a Mosque, he should not sit until he has offered a tworak` at prayer.إذا دخل أحدكم المسجد فلا يجلس حتى يصلي ركعتين
Sahih al-Bukhari 1167
; and based on his saying (peace and blessings be upon him):
Indeed, the sun and the moon are two signs among the signs of Allah; they do not eclipse for the death of any person or for his life. So when you see that, pray and supplicate.إن الشمس والقمر آيتان من آيات الله لا ينكسفان لموت أحد من الناس ولا لحياته، فإذا رأيتم ذلك فصلوا وادعوا
Musannaf Ibn Abi Shaybah 36:440
This covers the prohibited times and the non-prohibited times.
Likewise, circumambulation: if one performs tawaf after the afternoon prayer, he prays two rak'ahs—the two rak'ahs of tawaf—or after the dawn prayer, likewise; based on his saying (peace and blessings be upon him):
You descendants of ‘Abd Manaf must not prevent anyone who goes round this House and prays at any hour of the night or day he wishes.يا بني عبد مناف! لا تمنعوا أحدًا طاف بهذا البيت وصلى أية ساعة شاء من ليل أو نهار
Mishkat al-Masabih 1045
. Yes.

The presenter: May Allah reward you with good.
