The Permissibility of Making Up the Missed Takbirs of the Funeral Prayer

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
The questioner says: Sometimes in the funeral prayer, I miss one takbir or more, as I do not catch up until the third takbir, where the supplication for the deceased is made, and then I conclude the prayer with the imam. Is that permissible, or is it necessary for me to perform the takbirs that I missed?

Answer:
It is prescribed for you to perform the takbirs, based on his (peace and blessings be upon him) saying:
and pray whatever you get (with the people) and complete the rest which you have missedما أدركتم فصلوا وما فاتكم فأتموا
Sahih al-Bukhari 635
This applies to the funeral prayer and others. So if you catch up with the third takbir, it is the first of your prayer. When you say the takbir, you recite al-Fatihah and whatever is easy with it. Then when you say the fourth takbir, you send blessings upon the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). Then when you conclude the prayer, you say the takbir and say: O Allah, forgive the deceased. You supplicate for him with forgiveness in a few words, then you say the takbir and conclude the prayer.

The presenter: May Allah reward you with good, O Shaykh.
