The ruling on a woman going to a male dentist if no female dentist is available

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
The questioner (N. F.) from Riyadh says: I needed to have my teeth straightened, and I looked for a female dentist to perform that procedure, but I could not find any except male doctors in several hospitals. Is it permissible for me to have this done by male doctors?
Knowing that this procedure is necessary for my appearance, as I am about to get married. What is the ruling on exposing the face for dental treatment?

Answer:
If there is a need for it, there is no harm if a Muslim female dentist is not available; it should be a Muslim male doctor without seclusion, but without straightening the teeth if it is for a dental illness, or a need for extraction.
As for straightening the teeth for beauty, it is not permissible. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) cursed those who straighten their teeth for beauty, and cursed those who pluck their eyebrows, and cursed those who tattoo and those who get tattooed, and those who straighten their teeth for beauty, meaning: straightening her teeth for beauty. However, if there is an illness in the tooth, or blackness to be removed, or something similar to that from illnesses, there is no blame. A Muslim female dentist should attend to her. If she is not available, then a Muslim male doctor without seclusion, with your brother or your father or your mother, or the like, being present with you.

The presenter: May Allah reward you with good.
